got out early with joer210. we were in the water by 0550-0600 and were greeted to absolute sheet glass, no pressure form other tubers/kayakers and minimal current. kicked out to our go to deep spot and didn't take long to get blasted on the reaction bait. I had 5 spotties and a small sandie within the first 45 minutes and things were looking GREAT. Nothing of any real size but all grump deep water medium sized fish. Joer210 got into em too on the white reaction bait and i was throwing green with a hint of brown and orange. things slowed down a bit after the first hour flurry but we were still picking away at em, by that time the current was starting to drain and we decided to try an area where we hadn't fished deep yet but knew their were smalls in the skinny water. We both focused on getting it near that main channel hoping for some turd rollers and or jumbo size Spotties. I nabbed a few more sandies on the way over one of which was over 14" which is always cool. half way through the drift at the new zone i got absolutely blown up and i could tell this fish meant business, complete bend right off the bat and taking line on my buttoned down drag. i knew right there it was F*^cking ON! tried not to horse him in since i knew there was nothing for him to rap me on or bury me in. the first 15 seconds i was sure it was a hali with those distinct headshakes but as i got it off the bottom it started fighting like a bass and i was thinking S**t this is going to be a big sandy, to my surprise it was neither but a absolute BRUISER of a spotty. i knew my day was complete once i got it on the tube it was hands down my PB well over my last PB which was 2lbs and 3ozs. No scale on me but Joer210 can attest this is no fish story. she measured 18 1/2 with thick shoulders and a belly full of clams. after a few photos we got back at it and joer210 was ON with a nice PB Sandie that was probably hovering around 3 lbs maybe even some change on top. we picked a few more fish and on the way back when joe got slammed by another solid fish this time his PB spottie which was about 16" but FAT. by 10 am we were pretty content with how the day had gone and decided to split. great fishing, weather, and company. cheers and tight lines to all!
also if someone want to help me with these photos i can get em up i can't load them for whatever reason
