FINALLY got out to fish today. I had not fished in a couple of months. It was just been bad timing or I was just feeling in a funk.
Last night I decided I was fishing and I packed up the car.
I hit the harbor about 0615, later than I wanted but, I was on the water.
It was overcast with little to no breeze. It smelled funky as soon as I got outa the car. Smelled like a fish market. I looked over the concrete wall and there were thousands of tuna crabs on the sand. I thought that my day was doomed. I decided to get in anyways, I was already there.
I launched from the front side of the island and decided to work my way around to the bayside bridge.
I was in the water for less than 5 minutes and I was on.
Skunk was off. I could relax now.

On the fluke. I thought it would be the ticket again.
I kept working and all I was getting were short bites.
As soon as I rounded the corner I got fish two.

And three.

I kept kicking and fishing for nothing. I was past the Bayside bridge now. Crabs were much thicker here. It was bout 9 so I decided to turn around and call it a day.
Kept fishing all the way back against the tide for nothing. I was 50' from my launch spot and got that last hit. It hit and seemed to hug the bottom. I knew what it was.
Fish 4.

I had scored the Newport Trifecta.
All fish, with the exception of the first, were caught on Captain Kirk's Bass in the Hood dropshot bait. All on the same color. I tried other colors, dark and light and only that color was getting hit.
Shout out to Captain Kirk. His bait made my day.
I was off the sand by about 1015. It was still overcast. I had beat the sun out. When I was getting out the city workers were raking up the stinky tuna crabs. They told me they've been raking since Monday.
It was great to be back in the water.
