NPH 7/3 K street mission

Hit NPH with a few guys it was a last minute event for me, got there at 5:30 in the water at 6 and out by 10. From 6:20 till 7am I landed 6 and missed the same. It was feeling like a great day and then it got better with I think 6 more for my PB day in Newport for I think a total of 12. 10 Spots I think, 1 sandie, and 1 halibut I lost count while having a blast. I tried something a little different for me I tied up a drop shot with a jika rig at the bottom, I was getting them on either hook it was the rig that was producing for me all day.

Great job out there. I was going to go this morning but my son wanted to go to Disney. Thinking of going to Newport in a few. High tide is at 11:30.

Good job changing things up and showing them something different can really help you get bit

WTG on PB epic day
I was gonna hit NPH for a morning practice session but grand kid wanted to fish so took him to Irvine for few hrs for catfish. He caught 3 so it was worth the trip.

Between Jeff, me, Ed, sonarbp and leakytube...we pulled about 50 fish.

So the plan was to meet the guys at 6 AM and launch from K street. I was running late and didn't launch till about 6:20 or so. When I hit the water I didn't see the rest of the crew so I kicked south, against the tide, toward the bait barge. I was able to pull 4 spotts by the time I got to M street. Still didn't see the crew so I called Waxon. The crew went the opposite way!

Decided to ride the tide back and meet up with the crew. On the ride back I landed 5 more spotts then realized I didn't have my license.... Stopped at K street ran back to the car to grab it and realized it was at home. Called it a day.

Water temp was very warm and the fish are there. Every fish I landed was on 4" grubs.

Maybe the next trip I will be better prepared and bring the license..LOL

Nice going! Have you ever launched from the public beach/fishing dock off of E. Balboa Blvd. right before the west jetty and the "Wedge" area? If you head out and kick south and fish the dock and pilings and head toward the jetty, there are some really big bass along this stretch. Just don't fish it on a low tide when it is shallow. Also you can go north the from the launch area and fish the docks and moored boats as the bay curves around toward the west. Try to cast beyond the pilings and even between the boats and the docks (but don't hit any boats with your deadheads!) I've caught my largest Spotted Bay Bass along here by vertically jigging a black and red rubber skirted 3/8 oz jig up and down right next to the dock pilings. When you get bit, you have to really get them away from those pilings quickly!
