Wierd event/lights in the sky

Did anybody see the strange event in the sky last night around 6pm?
We just got out of the garage, and my girl friend said "hey look at that plane". It looked like a plane with afterburners on. Then the "afterburners" shut off, and this thing was hauling a$$. A short time later, it seemed to have exploded, and a strange light was glowing in about a 45 degree angle behind it. This went on for about 30 seconds, and at the same time a blueish cloud was forming behind it. The light was pulsating. I was half expecting to be hit by a radiation blast as we looked at it. Kinda like you see in the movies..lol

Then the lights stopped, and the thing kept going.

NASA said it was a meteor shower. Um, this wasnt a meteor shower thats for sure. The navy said it was a missile test launch, even a tomahawk missile. Ive seen first hand missiles and tomahawks during the day and night, and this thing was neither.

It was also seen as far north as the bay area and as far east as Arizona, so you know this thing was really really high.
My first thought was that the International Space Station had exploded - i saw the ISS fly by Friday morning while boarding the Pursuit..and that thing hauled a$$ too...lol

The Navy is calling it a test launch of a missile . but I have a feeling it was more of a Message then anything , due to there been numerous Russian War planes and Bombers the last few months buzzing our coast lines . 3 days ago was the last Fly by , where they intercepted a plane again  ....
