Went out bass fishing for the first time today at Rancho Seco. Tested my motor for the first time still some bugs to work out there. Bluegills couldn't tell that I was bass fishing caught three better than not catching anything.

Those are some fat bluegill's! Well done on your maiden bass fishing trip. I assure you that you will catch multiple bass eventually. Everyone always does

Well the top one is a Female Blue Gill and the next 2 pictures are Redear and they are very aggressive little fish . Last Year I was catching big ones on a 1.5 Strike king crank bait . good job on those catches

All three are Redears. See that light colored edge on that black gill tab? Bluegill don't have that. Sometimes it's orange or red, but it can be white too. Also the bodies are longer than the shorter stouter Bluegill. I don't know why I replied this, I guess it's from teaching so many kids how to fish and what each fish they caught are.
