First time BFS fishing

My new reel arrived yesterday.  I pre-ordered it over a month ago.  It's an Ark Gravity BFS reel.  I paired it with a Ray Fishing 7 ft Tarantula finesse rod, and spooled it with 6lb. nanobraid and a 6lb. flourocarbon leader.

If you'd have told me yesterday that I could cast a tiny 1/16 oz. (or smaller) lure with a baitcaster as far as I do with my ultralight trout rods I'd have laughed and called you nuts.  I was so wrong!  This thing casts a mile and it's as smooth a silk.

Consider me a BFS convert.  All the distance of my trout rods with the pinpoint accuracy and control of a baitcaster.  Easy to dial in and adjust I was able to launch it thumb free with no overruns.  It'll never take the place of my beloved Bass rigs for big fish but it's added a whole new level of fun.  I doubt I will ever head out again without this in a rod holder spot on my tube.

You learned to work all your favorite gear, and then somebody hands you another rod or reel, and it becomes your new favorite! You’ll probably still have another new favorite down the road! Ha ha ha!!

Haha well maybe. I have done a lot of Ultralight fishing over the years, but never thought I'd be able to do it on a baitcaster. That's really the point.

I love fishing baitcasters, and to have one capable of casting something nearly as light as a fly with distance is pretty amazing. I suspect that the advanced breaking system that they developed for this new technology (that allows casting of these light weights without overruns) will soon be incorporated into traditional baitcasters as well. The breaking system basically adjusts itself on the fly using centrifugal force.

I have a pretty educated thumb when it comes to baitcasters, but with this I don't even need it I whip it out and forget it. And it was so easy to adjust to get it to that point.

I'm just really impressed is all I'm saying haha

Nice work buddy I think I need to get back to some Panfish fishing I miss it.

Where did you end up purchasing your Ark Gravity BFS reel?
Is that the 3 casting G3105L?

No that's a different reel. Right now I think it's only available directly from Ark.
