I fished the East End of Perris launching from the Jet Ski Launch. I was pretty certain the bass were deep so I kicked out to 40 deep and started searching. I found a good size brush pile while zig zagging at about 35 feet down. I worked it from all sides with various lures for about and hour. I know there were bass in there and the requirement for catching a bass with the drop shot for the BINGO tournament was frustrating me a bit.
I decided to move around and search for another spot dragging two drop shot rigs as I kicked. I kicked to a spot I remember from from years past when the lake was low and decided to sit on that spot till I caught a bass. A huge school of bait fish swam through and not a bump, so I decided to switch to the 4 and 6 pound setups with the smaller plastic. About 30 minutes later the the bait fish swam through again. Then my 6 pound set up slowly bent as the line moved off. I set the hook and felt a little weight on the end, but no fight, so I thought I snagged some brush. This little bass in the pic gave almost no fight at all till I netted him. I took a couple of pics and looked in his throat. This guys mouth was bright red and full of crawdads. I thought for sure they were chasing shad down there.
