I know a lot of the salrsaltw guys use one rod in their hand and leave another in a rod holder also in the water .this is adding an additional fisherman essentially . this method is totally ineffective with largemouth giving them an advantage. Ok. I personally have never had anything but tangle and lost baits that way but I guess I'll bring a shorty rod and try .Jerdon wrote:Floatingbassturd wrote:I have a legit question. I use the same technique. Typically a drop shot in the rod holder, and whatever reaction bait I favor in my hand. I have had a few double hook ups, and seen bass that chase my lure to the tube turn and hit the drop shot.
So I say keep the two rods.
I think it is a legit question. I have never really seen the advantage to this as I can only reel in one at a time.Floatingbassturd wrote:I have a legit question. Ill take it! I agree on it getting in the way at times, but its a rare sight to not have two lines in the water.kin wrote:The salt guys need that handicap lol....
From my stand point, I don’t think it makes much of a difference. You can still drag a senko while fishing flats and it would be as effective as dragging a swimbait/tube for spotties. Very few of the salt guys will fish two rods while pitching docks and structure because it gets in the way.
If you intend to be fishing bedding bass and structure, yea. It’s a disadvantage for us. But that’s part of the challenge of patterning fish and deciding if you want to look for schools or toads.
