so far thanx to everyone for their help and advice regarding me and buying a tube. now the next question is about radios. which ones do you guys prefer and why? are there common frequencies amongst the brands? waterproofness? headsets? I have used a number of brands and like the motorolas overall except for their Vox has a bit of a delay that you have to learn to use.

I don't use a radio but I have thought about it. It will be interesting to see where this thread will go. I shall sit back and absorb... Thumbs Up

I dont think any of us really use them. If we like each other we fish near each other close enough to yell at. If we dont we just kinda drift away with the current Smile

I have always wanted to use them good way to stay in contact but cover more ground in a group. Cool

hmmm think I just found out why I am floating alone at our get togeathers Sad

I don't usually use radios in the harbors since most are within yelling distance but I do like to use them in the Sierras where sometimes wind and terrain make it hard to talk/yell to eachother.

Hey Jeff knows what my quote is from !! Sweet!

Okay sorry to have gotten off topic. I do not see a use for any ship to shore or hand held radios while tubing. Most stay together close enough to talk and or to hollar at each other. If we are too far apart, we can call each other. We are always tubing not too far from structure ie: boats, docks, etc. In the event of an emergency, you can usually get to a dock or boat or shoreline pretty fast. If you are talking about all of us having a communicating radio to each other, its a fun idea. I'm sure we can if everyone wants to get one. Hope this answers your question some what.

I would be in on this might be fun, the headset type of radio would be the way to go.
