Hello fellow float tubers.

I'm heading out to Hagg Lake Sunday 8/7. Will be fishing from Scoggins Creek picnic area to Tanner Creek inlet. If anyone from the forum is on the lake, give me a shout.

Well, I had a blast. Fish on the first cast and it was a fun day. The highlight was hooking into an 18"+ large mouth that took me for a ride. LOL! was probably over 3lbs but unfortunately I didn't get a picture because I had to preform oral surgery just to get the hook out (lot of blood on the deck). He had really swallowed it. Luckily he swam away. Caught a ton in the 6 - 12" range.

That is great good to see you got on some action right away. I think float tube fishing is one of the best off shore ways to fish. Of course that is just me I am kind of a nut like that .

Nice fish! What were you throwing at him?

Funny thing, I used a drop shot rig with a 3” TRD June bug. Had it wacky rigged and was just slowly dragging it along the bottom at about 18’. I was actually heading to another area on the lake and BANG!

Those are the best surprises for sure.

Just remember sometimes if it's hooked down in the gullet it's better to just cut the line close to the hook & let the hook rust out. Especially trout, a bleeder won't make it, bass are a little stronger.
Float tube trolling is great!
