For everyone coming to LAB
itchybass mentioned almost getting hit by a sailboat on Sunday
When we are there on Sunday, please keep an eye out for the traffic that passes through the area.
The rowers are hauling butt and they sometimes won't see you so don't assume that.
So, defensive tubing is in order at this place!
Be safe out there so we won't have any bad stories to tell Shocked

If you guys fish the harbors you should already have a whistle or air horn...they are required by the coast guard along with a PFD.

The only time you need to have any type of permit to hold a tourney or gathering is when it happens at a freshwater body of water. DFG regulations are different for saltwater tourneys so you guys are fine! Thumbs Up

Hey Fisher...with all the DDT from the 70's sitting in the local harbors and all the gas and pollution in the water you might want to rethink the idea of keeping a legal hali.

If you do decide to keep one just use a stringer hanging from your tube and let the fish hang in the water.

Another thing to keep in mind is halis have alot of worms. To prevent the flesh from getting contaminated you really should clean and gut the fish ASAP.

Good luck and tight lines. Thumbs Up

x2, i have been told in the past that a legal size hali dont live the whole time inside of the bays so you maybe safer to eat those than anything else inside there but myself wouldnt keep anything from the bays

Hey guys
eat a harbor butt?! no way! you'll have three eyed babies!
In point of fact, the fish in the harbors have been tested repeatedly and don't pose that much of a health threat but there are recommendations that you not eat them very frequently. Heavy metal contamination due to street runoff can be quite severe in harbor environments, particularly during winter months after a rain runoff. During the summer months it is more about bacterial contamination due to the elevated temps. Different kind of toxins, more about poisoning than toxic buildup. In short,.. sure keep one if you like but just be aware that the fish do have higher levels of contaminants and should not be consumed too often.

PS
Good luck Ya'll wish I could be there but the Biz is off to a record new year in commercials I am busier than a one armed paper hanger! headed for a 26 straight day run! Hee Hee may have to buy my new meter after it's done! Lookin forward to all the pics and lies!!! hee hee
