Laguna, same result

The bass are not very active there right now. I showed up to the lake wanting to try the Sims spinner Jeff sent me. The spinner works well but needs to be brought in quickly in order for the blades to work. I fished it with a 6' M action rod. Those spinners need to be fished with a little bigger rod because the rod I was using made it tough to retrieve the spinner at the speed it need to get the right action. I also tried out the new RC Waker from Lucky Craft and was pleased with the action. It throws a huge wake when retrieved on a slow retrieve.

The bass there were chasing some shad pm the surface but would not commit to any lures. But it was good to see that the lake isn't completely dead.

But still a big ol' skunk

Glad you made it out and thanks for the report, it is rough right now with the weather the way it is. Spring is coming aways off but it is coming boys.

Skunks are all part of the game we call fishing, if it was eas they would call it catching not fishing.

I suggest trying a shad pattern jerk bait and fish it super slow.

You know I've seen what I thought were shad but I don't think they are shad they are like a ball of little minnows that come up during the evening. I haven't seen them being chased lately either. Just that one night.

I think you are talking about, the mosquito fish they are planted to help fight off "well you know". Not sure if they are are high on the food chain as far as bass, but maybe Bluegill would hunt these guys.

I dunno, that night bass were diffidently chasing some small bait fish....
