New Citca 200E- 20lb. Braid?

Got a new reel for bay fishing
Been using braid on more of my reels than ever.
It casts just fine for me and pulls on fish very well
Thinking I want to fill the new Citca with 20lb. powerpro and do a short topshot of fluoro or mono.
Anybody use 20lb. braid in the bays?

I use 30# Powerpro braid on my curado and revo

I use 30 & 50. I would go with 30 as its the same as 8lb mono. I do have 20lb power pro on another reel but I don't fish it enough to say if there is a difference between the 2.

What size topshots (strength of line) do you tie on?

One has 8# and the other 12# seaguar Flouro

3' leader

I use whatever n2deepfsw ties for me as he dose everything for me. Ties my leader, my bait, unhooks my fish etc

Oh and the color I use is red. I think it's a personal thing as far as color goes

I was using green this weekend and I couldn't see the sh*t

True plus I really like it after the line breaks in and fades. It has a really nice pink color

Yeah green is stuff. They yellow an white as well

i use 30# braid with 10# flurocarbon 3` leader. and i got a curado with 10# mono but i think it has too much memory... will see if i can get use to it.

I wasn't sure if the lighter lures 1/4 & 3/8oz would cast well with the 30lb
...and 30lb. is frickin' STRONG!

It's going to need a few sessions to break the stuff in

No casting problems at all, not even with 50lb

I use 30# power pro to a 3-4 foot length of 12#seaguar flurocarbon leader...uni to ini connection.

I feel anything lighter in braid digs into itself too much....even the 30# digs in pretty bad when i hook into a bigger fish like a halibut that rips drag.

Knock on wood but i havent lost a fish yet due to a break off with this setup.

Powerpro is good line but abit on the stiff side for me. I use Daiwa Samurai Braid. It cast alot better than the power pro and I can get smallewr dia line that is stronger.

I use 55lb Daiwa Samurai Braid which is 10lb dia on a few of my casting reels. The only draw back is the $$$, but if you take care of it after each use it will last forever.

I also use 30lb which is 6lb on my spinning reel.


The key to using braid is to have a shop put it on the reel for you...you will never get it on the spool as tight as they can at a shop! The line needs to be put on tight to prevent it from crossing and cutting into itself.

Never had a problem doing it myself. The line is going to get loose with in few cast anyways. Maybe I just get/got lucky

Never had a problem doing it myself. The line is going to get loose with in few cast anyways. Maybe I just get/got lucky

I spool my reels with braid too and never had any issues.
