The key to using braid is to have a shop put it on the reel for you...you will never get it on the spool as tight as they can at a shop! The line needs to be put on tight to prevent it from crossing and cutting into itself.

So true.

Never had a problem doing it myself. The line is going to get loose with in few cast anyways. Maybe I just get/got lucky
I spool my reels with braid too and never had any issues.

Wow you so lucky....geepers! Fish on dudes.

Yea after a few casts it'll get loose anyways.

At the end of each session I like to make a nice long cast and let the current rip some line off the spool....then I'll reel in really quick. Seems like this gets the line back on kinda tight and i feel like it helps work any kinks or twists out of the line (with mono at least).
