I put together an anchoring system and a rod holder for less than $20. The best thing is that it's REALLY simple to do and it works great. The small kayak anchor is on a retractable dog leash and the rod is attached to the D-rings on my Fish Cat 4 using Velcro. If you're interested I've given a more detailed description on my blog.

BTW, the dog leash thing is not my idea but I can't remember where I read about it.

Thanks for passing the dog leash anchoring system along. That looks perfect for setting out a second anchor on my toon when the wind is swinging me around too much with one anchor. I started with one kayak anchor, but it didn't hold when the wind blew above 10-15 mph so I bought a 10 lb anchor and a Scotty anchor rig. I've tried different set-ups for a second anchor rig, but never was satisfied. I think your idea should work for me just fine.

Enjoyed your blog too.

Thanks. I'm working on a second anchor too. What I'm going to try next is just a foot of 1/4" chain on the end of a fairly thin rope. Then I can quickly tie that to a carabiner.
