Went on a mission into some unsalted waters and had a blast. Hanging out with the fellas BSing and having a good time. Next thing you know fish start boiling like crazy and there was a hawk flying over head. It turns out that the fish were trout and the hawk was hungry. One thing led to another and next thing you know the hawk swooped down and plucked a decent trout from the unsalted water. Then it flew over to a tree top to enjoy its meal. That was a beautiful sight to see.

The aerial show is sweet. It was a blast watching them jump out of the water.

The only thing is that the water level seems really low and you can't launch until 730 when the lifeguards open up the boat launch. Yours truly found out the had way LOL

and for those of you that haven't been, PFD's are mandatory.

Always a good time on the water. With the usual suspects. The fishing is good there. Still trying to find all the right patterns there. Can't wait for the next launch.

Good info, do you have to wear the pfd or just have it with you?
Question, what about a orange flag or something, I have seen on a few lakes that you have to have one

At this lake you'll be ok with a type 2. Doesn't have to worn. Just needs to be with you on the vessel. There is also a $7.00 launch fee.

They didn't tell us anything about an orange flag so I'm going to say no to that one. They do come and check each and every person prior to launching so I highly recommend having all your stuff together. They will deny you access if you do not comply with the rules.

@fatboy: how does it feel to be able to get back on the boards? LOL

Bass were probably pushing those trout up. Then they get caught from above. Poor fish can't catch a break! Oh well, they were born to be eaten.

I would guess the bird was an Osprey? Eagles eat the trout too, as do the Cormorants.

There is a tagged fish thing going on here in San Diego. An entire stock was tagged and they are offering $10 per tagged fish. Seems they are trying to ascertain how many trout are actually caught by fishermen.
