Lake Perris 8/1
Time 7:00 AM till 11:00 AM
Air temp: Hot to Blazing, was 100 when I left
Water temp: 80
Visibility: About eight feet
Depth fished: 8 to 35 feet deep.
What did not work:
Split Shot .... Purple Robo style
Shaky head rig .... 7” pumpkin seed
What did work:
Berkley Havoc Pit Boss in Green Pumkin
Siver Rapala Countdown
I hit up Bernasconi Beach at Perris this morning at 6 AM. Thought I would work the weedline and test out the top water situation. No bites on the finesse rigs in the weedline for 30 minuets and no bites on the top water in the shallows, but I kept hearing the fish break the surface behind me. So I turned around and tossed the Pit Boss at general direction and it gets destroyed right on top. I reel in a beauty and it shakes loose right at the tube . A l little later I noticed a flock of birds chasing shad near by so I tossed my Silver Rapala near them and had something chasing it back. After several casts working the area I caught another decent bass and lost him right at the tube again ! I had a lot of fish chase the Rapala but stuck only one. I also tossed a white and chartreuse spinner bait, had chasers but no takers. Both the fish I caught were in 20 feet of water or so but the bass wanted to chase stuff up.
Hope this helps.
