So, I'm going to leave my tube at home and try kayak fishing in Huntiington harbor tomorrow after noon. Going to rent one from OEX for 2 hours. Does anyone have any tips for me on where in the harbor is best to fish? I'm going to throw some paddle pro swimbaits and hawg seekers on the drop shot. Looking to have some fun with the spotties.

I'm sure the current is going to be fun, but I figure it will not be as bad to deal with vs being in my float tube.

Hopefully some fish porn to come for you guys....

Just stick to the same tactics as any other harbor and you'll be alright. Good luck out there.

Small cuda were breezing around the jetty area last week when I was there. They were hitting LCs and stickbaits. Had one smack a spinner, but it didn't commit. Mad

x2 what lolly said. it doesn't matter if its a tube, toon, kayak or boat. Fishing is all the same inside of the harbor

So, I fished the harbor on the kayak. Had a blast, but the current was a nightmare and the wind was blowing hard. I could not hold my spot on the pillars to hunt for the spotties. I wish I had my float tube due to my fins being able to hold me in position to fish the pillars. But when rowing, the kayak was way easier and a bit effortless compared to kicking against the current.

I only had 1 bite the whole 3 hours I was on the water. My nephew did catch a small sand bass and he had more bites than I did. He had about 6 missed bites compared to my 1. Either way, it was great being on the water with my nephew and enjoyed the SUP riders in bikinis. Hahahah. We paddled from OEX all the way to the bridge and between a lot of channels and docks.

Congratz on the day out!
You can cover water with the yak, but it lacks the fish fighting control the tube has.
HH is a scenic view spot on a sunny day for sure.
