I think as good float tubers, that each of us should Mentor a Newbie thru his or her first float and gear purchase. Think about all of the stuff you bought that you didnt need, all the extra gear you have that could have been used towards the purchase of a nice reel and rod or float tube. Lets hear your feedback.

I totally agree, you can save a new guy so much time and money buy guiding them on their first purchases. I ended up with alot of things that could have been bought once but instead were bought 2-3 times since I was learning what works and doesn't or what I was comfortable with.

Also it doesn't hurt that veteran float tubers have the experience that the only thing that has to be bought is a float tube, fins and waders... just about everything else can be made from Home Depot supplies for a third to half the cost of what tackle shops charge for acessories. Well you could make waders out of a trash bag and duct tape but let's not go there.
