I met singletrack at LAH and we launched our vessels at 0530 hrs.
Today was my 60th float tube session this year since 3-18-2016.
AO: LAH, we approached today's session as a RECON Session because it was virgin territory to both of us.
Session Duration: 0530 hrs until 1130 hrs
Sun Rise: 0648 hrs, Start of Grey Light: 0600 hrs.
Moon Phase: Waxing Gibbous.
Tidal Conditions: incoming tide 0500 5.6', 0600 6.2', 0636 HT 6.4', outgoing tide 0700 6.37', 0800 5.7', 0900 4.5', 1000 3.0', 1100 1.4, 1200 0.2'.
Ocean Swell: WNW /NW
Water Temp: 58 deg and extremely clear with great depth in water visibility. Definitely SoCal board-shorts weather.
Bait: Pods of 3-4" shinners breaking the surface.
Birds: A few pelagic birds here and there.
Harbor Dogs: Just one seal early on in the morn. Thank goodness he didn't want to become our friend!! Phewww!!
Wind: offshore 5 mph at 0600 hrs and onshore 9 mph at 1200 hrs.
Air Temps: 56 - 68 deg. Heavy cloud cover with some early drizzles, some patchy fog and later in the morn we had huge blue sky holes in the clouds to mix up the day. Hot, cold, hot ... etc. Well you get it!
iSolunar Prediction: 3-fish were predicted, the Major Period: 0803 to 1103 hrs.
Distance: We kicked and covered 1.98 miles. Calories Burnt: 906
Tackle Used: 3" & 4" BH Bay Smelt on a 3/16oz chartreuse; and plan, Hammerhead w/ 2/0 hook, and the Drop-Shot rig w/ a Gamakatsu size 2/0 Offset Shank Worm EWG hook and a 5" Zoom Green Fluke with a 1/2 oz finesse weight and I used the shooting-the-dock form of cast shooting using both the 1/4oz Sardine Green / Silver and the Black Gold HUB. I slathered Hot Sauce scent on everything ... myself included. Ha ha ha!!!
