Float tubing kid PFD?

I'm planning on taking my GF's 11 year old son on his first float tube fishing experience in the Los Alamitos bay. It's fairly calm and easy boat traffic during the week.

My question is, what do you suggest for life preservers for youth?
He is an excellent swimmer, and he will be using my Creek Company 420 double tube V.
I'm not sure if PFD's are even required but I always take one with me and just drag it along side.
I'll have to look into getting us some manually inflatable ones, but they are pricey.

I have a women's small kayak PFD that fits him, so he'll have to wear that one until I can get him the small manual PFD.

We say PFD's should be with you at all times, and the Coast Gaurd also staits you must have a PDF. As for a kid simple go with a water ski vest. If you like i have one you can barrow.

Thanks Jeff, I have a small kayak vest for him. Not as puffy and more arm rotation room.
It's a women's small but it fits. I'll have to get him a kayak youth one when I find it.
