1hr birthday quickie 8/17 nph

had wednesday off for once, wanted to fish all day but some friends thought i should celebrate my birthday with them.

had some extra time, wanted to go to the jetty but it was closed due to high surf. walked over to m street pier. fishing was apparently slow. some of the regulars laughed at me for throwing out artificials but oh well. hooked up on one in an hr. tiny little one.

sorry for the glove in the way, i had to shoot the pic and release real quick

an old buddy of mine showed up, he and his wife hooked up on several calicos. one 13" and one 16.5" and several smallies. all on plastics. to each his own, but i felt a little satisfaction knowing the trash talkers weren't even getting nibbles.

on my way out, saw these two dudes. i offered to photograph their fish before i left. first guy came in first with this thresher.

next guy came in with this monster. fyi, this was his maiden voyage and his first saltwater fish on a pwc

both were caught just off the coast outside of the harbor. yeah, can't wait til i get my kayak. still not a bad day, i seem to have better luck on quick sessions than i do on planned fishing days.

I read 1 hr birthday quickie and thought maybe you went for a rub and a tug but turns out you were fishing.

Happy birthday man let us know if you score any good tackle for your birthday. And when you going to do a harbor trip with some of us? these guys get togeather every weekend.

i definitely want to fish with everyone but my fishing is usually either last minute or during a quick session before/after work. got school, caring for my mom, and i work weekends. i'm hoping to be out on the water more in september.

dont know about anyone else but to me, it seemed like the calicos disappeared from nph for a while. hadn't seen many since may. this past week, it seems like people are hooking up with calicos consistently. also saw 2 under 20" white sea bass
