2nd. outing on the tube.
Prefishing for the gathering on the 19th.
Also needed to condition the leg muscles. I did get a good workout.
Ended up kicking all the way to the buoy just before the channel.

Started off the morning with my very first floattube Spottie
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Didn't have any action trying for another Spottie
Decided to drop shot with perch crack (gulp camo sandworm)
Proceded to catch a couple of Lizard fish and 3 small butts
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Also enjoyed the scenery and admiring the beautiful homes there

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

I learned a few thing this trip:
-If you want to get to a distant spot quickly, forget it, it just burned my legs out. Much more effective to just take my time getting there.
This could just be a conditioning issue Mad
-Need to find a more effective technique to catching the Spotties there

Until next time...

Yea those are great pictures. Nice job on the butts....crack catches everything!

I've never tried to DS them, actually I've only used the drop shot once for a few minutes before I called it quits. Gonna break it out in a few days I think for some Dana Point halis.

The sandworms work great
I've been breaking it out just to get a bite
But, don't expect a lot of big fish Rolling Eyes

Texas rigged Zoom fluke for the Spottie

Nice catches! Did you bring home any legal? This is why the pontoon comes in handy, rather than burning muscles to the point of atrophy. Arms and legs combo is a perfect balance.

Leo, The Spottie was a good 13" but CPR when it comes to the harbor for me.
I catch and keep other SW fish out in the open ocean.

The tube sure is nice once you're there
I'm going to have to give Ed's sea scooter a try between my legs green happy so I can have power but get around having to register it.
BTW, my new prowler came with documentation papers and a hull ID number.

NICE! The Prowler is on the loose! LOL Prep that baby for massive mods, and we'll definitely hang, along with the boys any chance I can get when a full day of freedom arises.

Mods are in the works
Will post them up when I am satisfied with the results
I hope to eventually achieve everything that I think it needs

Nice report IN2DEEP.

The key to fishing the LAB is to use the tide to your advantage. I have put many hours in fishing that harbor and the spotties are there for sure.

Once I get caught up with work and the all the shows in March I will have time to get back out there. When I do maybe we can meet up and I can show you a few hidden hot spots at the LAB that hold BIG spotties.

me too! Would love to meet up with you guys sometime. Hopefully, I can keep up with y'all.
I'm getting my first float tube set-up over the next 2-3 weeks.. so I hope to get out on LAB by early April.

On the dropshot camo sandworm, do you just troll it on the bottom? as you kick around to your destination? Thx.

Nice report!!

Yes, leave it down as much as possible.
When you're moving around and fishing a spot.
You need to adjust how much line is out between trolling and fishing a spot while making turns to stay in position
A horizontal rod holder helps a lot
