Up here in Manitoba we have a big fish registry that requires a "trophy shot" which includes the fish and the angler. Simple in my boat and only slightly more difficult in my fishing kayak but I haven't worked out an easy way in my Fish Cat 4. Perhaps an extended arm that can be held in place with 2 arms that slide into the stripping basket slots? I don't have a pvc frame that a lot of you have integrated into your tubes but may have to go that way if nothing else comes up.

I know there are loads of people on this forum with incredible innovation skills so please help me out. Smile

I rigged up a simple approach on my Fish Cat using my go pro.
On the left cup holder i glued the middle of the cup holder to the gear pocket splitting the cup holder in half, I have a short go pro handle that i slide into one of the slits. The Go pro handle i have is about 8" tall with the go pro attached.

I glued it a little more to one side so the go pro fits snuggly but easily removable. I end up getting my whole upper half of my body as well as fish. Don't catch many giant fish but works grew for bass halibut etc.

A good idea; thanks. I've got a regular point and shoot camera plus I fly fish which adds to the challenge. I'd prefer something temporary or out of the way. I like your idea of having the camera out to the side. Perhaps put up something that attaches to the D-rings on the side? You've got me thinking.

I got to thinking I must be half as smart as some of the innovators on this site so why not do it myself? I used Narantdesigns idea of using the bottle holder and made myself a camera holder. Now it's admittedly only half as good as it should be but it did work. I did notice that a 34" rainbow would have the ends cut off so I'll have to work on that. Anyway here are some pics and a selfie holding a 34" rod tube. I had drilled a hole in the end of the aluminum bar but decided to attach a little Joby tripod I had laying around instead. Works!

Looks good.
You'll have to hold those 34 inch rainbows at an angle.

I ended up taking a couple of selfies with my rig. The first was a small brown but the second was a really big rainbow. I had some slime on the lens which makes it look like a sucker though.
