the girlfriend and I set up at balboa pier at around 8:30 and at first it was slow.
Some small Mack and as I looked down I saw schools of them and the occasional Bonita making way. So I decided to live rig some Mack.
Between 9 and 12 I fought and got 3 horned sharks to breach water.
The only issue, when you don't have a net and you are fishing with 10lb floro on 2 bass rods- things get a little heavy and you snap.
Also fought what appeared to be a decent sized Ray or hali, saw a white flat belly and as soon as it dove- I lost another hook.
Kept about 5 decent size mackerel for the freezer to use for bait for my next pier venture or catfishing venture.
All in all a fun night! I did manage to catch and land one thornback and released it before we left.
I guess it's time I break out some heavier equipment. And a net..
