went backpacking throughout the peninsula, started at the jetty, finished up at balboa pier. nothing remarkable. mackerel, smelt, a few small lizard fish.

had some fun i guess with the bait rigs when i hooked on 3 mackerel on a line, but the fight of the night came on this, simply because it was so heavy. snagged it with a little trout rod, 1/4 oz lead head and a "custom color" swim bait.

i have no idea what it is, but the thing was heavy and it moved a lot. nobody on the dock wanted to help me with it, everyone was afraid of it. unhooked it, snapped a picture, and when i threw it back, someone said it sounded like i threw a baby back in.
