Me and a friend hit up LAB last night. Launched from 69th street by the yacht club and was on the water by 7pm. It didn't take long to get out first bite. Caught the first sand bass on a ZMan shrooz micro finesse jig and a 4" speedbaits slug. Fished the yacht club wall and openning with this jig and slug combo and caught a few fish but missed 10 bites. The currrent was really swirling and the fish were very active.
Kicked across to the rocks and docks and caught a little sculpin while kicking over. Once at the rocks the jig and slug combo wasn't working ans switched to the 1/4 ounce mint HUB. hte rest was history caught most of my fish on this bait. Wile kicking from one opening in the doks to another I hooked something nice, finally got this thing off the bottom and it just let go. It was a heart breaker but that is fishing.
After a few more fish we kicked over to the docks on naples island and had a few more fish. THe current and wind seemed to die down and the bites seem to calm down. We kicked in around 1am and it was my best tube session ever. Had a total of 25 fish (13 spotties, 11 turd rollers and 1 sculpin) and probably lost 10 -12 fish by being to slow on the hookset or the fish just let go. It was a great night on the water. My buddy had 5-6 fish but he couldn't get the hooks to stay in. Thanks for reading and tight lines. Will post some pictures here in a little bit.
