Come on in the water's GREAT!
The bluestoning last Thursdays did wonders for the lake. I launched out of Sailcove by the old handicap pier and saw clear water all the way out to 8' where the weeds start to appear. Visibility is a easy 10+ feet. Plenty of fry swimming in the shallows.
Started out at 9:30am and only one raft out there by the buoy line. Worked the eastside of the trench in 18-20 feet and got hit 3 times by what I'm sure were bluegills.I normally get 1 or 2 out there.
Started to get a little too hairy by 11am being the only thing out there with the summer boaters so I went inside to look at the dam. What I saw were ROCKS down to 8' where it starts to transition to mud.It is so nice to be able to see something again. In closer to shore on that end the weeds are in the 8'-15' range.
Went back out to the trench right before noon as 2 bass boats showed up to give me some cover. Picked up my first bass right off the east side edge not too long after getting there. Fifteen minutes later the second bass comes off the west side edge.
I was done and out by 1pm. The water temp was up to 81 and the shallows were getting pretty brown in a few areas by wake and wind action.
Fished just one size 8 black woolybugger the whole time as close to the bottom as I can. Fish were 22" and 18". Both were also one eye bandits. For comparison to pre-bluestoning I got 2 15" bass in the 3 other trips this month.
